STUBBS BAY
Location Highlights:
Stubbs Bay is the northernmost bay on Lake Minnetonka, the small bay is connected to Maxwell Bay through a long, narrow channel. The bay's name originates from the Stubb family, a powerful farming family in the 1800s. Today, Stubbs Bay is a highly desirable area. Homes are located in the city of Orono and the Orono School District. Even retired Timberwolf Kevin Garnett had a house on the bay until 2007.
Water Quality:
The maximum water depth of Stubbs Bay is 38 feet, and it has a C rating water quality by the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District. Meaning the water is crystal clear and can be enjoyed recreationally year-round.
Boating Restrictions:
None
Lake Access:
Stubbs Bay has no boat launches or marinas, but it does have public dock access off Bayside Road on the bay's north end. The city of Orono owns public launching access in the neighboring bay, Maxwell Bay. The Maxwell Bay Boat Launch provides easy access to the shores of Lake Minnetonka, just a few minutes away.
Amenities:
Stubbs Bay is a popular fishing spot because of its small size. The bay tends to be quiet compared to its neighboring bays, which proves advantageous to fishers not looking to compete for their game. Stubbs Bay is home to various fish species like Largemouth Bass, Black Crappie, Northern Pike, and Yellow Perch.
